NewsWhip

As a content strategist for NewsWhip, a news analytics firm, I focused on bridging the gap between business and editorial silos in media by exploring the ways publishers, brands and agencies use data to inform their storytelling.

Additionally, I spearheaded a high-level re-positioning for the company by conducting in-depth client interviews, drafting value statements and creating brand messaging to further NewsWhip's goals of breaking into a new industry.

When I wasn't working on the above, I took updated company headshots and created assets for all social channels: including taking photos, producing and editing videos, designing graphics, and manage posting to all accounts daily.

The main focus of my work was analyzing data and identifying trends across multiple industries to help professionals make better storytelling decisions. I wrote weekly articles using NewsWhip’s platform data, and through social listening, identified patterns and emerging trends primarily in the fashion, gaming and media industries.

NPR’s Next Generation Radio

After participating in a Next Generation Radio fellowship in 2017, I was recruited to help promote future programs through social media and develop a strategy for reaching out to those who are underrepresented in the industry.

Since 2017 I have created videos, various media assets, press releases and social campaigns for Next Gen Radio. Additionally I aided in a complete redesign and overhaul of the website and Instagram page.

NPR's Next Generation Radio is now remote, having gone virtual in 2020. This is how the program worked during our first remote digital media sprint in July of 2020.

American Press Institute

I was hired as a program associate for the American Press Institute to help better promote the work APi focuses on. I was solely responsible for APi’s marketing outreach, as well as researching ways the journalism industry can better approach diversity initiatives.

A few months into my job, I implemented a new tactic to help APi's audience (journalists and newsrooms) better understand APi’s efforts out in the journalism world. I called it: API Field Notes. I met my goal of increasing page views on our site by 60% within one month after promoting our Field Notes.

I took updated company headshots for the team, created videos and social assets, aided in a complete website redesign and helped put together workshops on how to listen to marginalized communities, as well as hire and retain diverse talent.
